Last year Huawei announced one of the world’s thinnest smartphones in the Ascend P1 smartphone, and as expected, this year at Mobile World Congress they’ve just detailed its successor. The Ascend P2 is here complete with an HD display, 13 megapixel, and more yet still comes in super sleek. We’ve seen a fewleaks already, but check out the hands-on pictures and all the details below.
Many rumors suggested this would be nearly a flagship smartphone with a 1080p full HD display, but instead Huawei opted for a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720p HD
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced the launch of the 8 inch tablet, the GALAXY Note 8.0; a new era of intelligent Note technology set to re-ignite the mid-size tablet category that Samsung established in 2010. Providing unrivalled multimedia performance within a compact one-hand-grip screen, the GALAXY Note 8.0 has the power and advanced technology to evolve the tablet experience and ensure you achieve new levels of efficient multi-tasking while benefitting from superb voice call functionality. Furthermore, the intelligent S Pen brings together the latest innovation and the ease of using a traditional pen and paper; creating a sophisticated mobile experience that will enhance life on the go.
“Back in 2010 the launch of the first Samsung GALAXY Tab with 7 inch screen opened a new chapter in the mobile industry. Now almost three years later, Samsung continues to evolve the sector that meets the demands of modern life.” said JK Shin, President of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
“The GALAXY Note 8.0 breaths fresh life into the category as it delivers the perfect fusion of portability and everyday productivity - the result is a pioneering, pocket-sized solution that enhances and enriches our everyday lives, whether at work or play,” added Shin.
At the core of the GALAXY Note 8.0’s innovative solutions are beneficial functions, including multi-window options to split the portable 8inch screen and allow optimal access to a number of live applications; a new generation of Samsung’s intelligent S Pen with advanced usability; access to a suite of S Note templates and tools that allow you to create, edit, manage and share everyday documents; the Samsung “reading mode” technology to enjoy e books with optimized resolution, video and voice calls＊. In addition, a suite of exciting new content and services are pre-loaded for users at no additional cost including, for the very first time on Samsung GALAXY tablet, the innovative Flipboard, and Awesome Note.
As we nudge closer and closer to Mobile World Congress that is happening early next week, so too, does it make sense if additional leaks concerning upcoming devices were to make their rounds online. Case in point, the mid-range Sony Xperia SP that was already leaked before, it seems as though we will finally have more information about it other
We got bit of a look at the MeMO Pad Smart 10 last week when ASUS unveiled the tablet during the Thailand Mobile Expo, however as of today we are being given a slightly better look. This latest look doesn’t come with much extra in terms of release dates, however it is in video form and touting some of the highlights such as processor and sound. In this case that would be quad-core with SonicMaster Audio Technology.
Some good news for the fight against tyrannical cell phone regulation. The official White House petition calling for the Librarian of Congress to rescind the decision to allow a DMCA exemption allowing entities other than the operators to SIM unlock phones ... take a deep breath -- that was a mouthful ... has eclipsed 100,000 signatures, meaning
Following up the recent Optimus F-Series image leak, LG has come forward with an official announcement ahead of Mobile World Congress. LG has announced the Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 smartphones with the intent on bringing a “premium user experience and the speed of 4G LTE to a mass audience.” That said, LG has offered up the specs for each of the handsets, however we still need a bit more detail when it comes to the pricing and release.
Kicking things off with the Optimus F7 and we have a handset with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display at
The USPTO has published a new patent application today from Google, which describes in comprehensive detail the complete system that would go on to become Google Glass, originally filed in August of 2011. The newly discovered patent describes not only individual components of Glass as we’ve seen previously, but the overall system, including
Sony's now obsolete PS3 may be the Netflix streaming device of choice, but that doesn't mean the popular streaming service will ignore other platforms. The Netflix app on iOS, which saw its last big refresh back in September last year, has just been bumped up to v3.0 -- bringing with it a slew of UI changes aimed towards improving your
Sony (sorta) unveiled the PlayStation 4 last night in New York, and along with hardware, software and development details, the electronics giant talked about how the new console would tie into mobile devices. For Android and iOS, Sony said it'd bring "second screen" experiences to these devices.
The Sony Xperia Z is one of the hottest new devices launching in Q1 of 2013, and as we begin to see the first nations actually able to buy one, our friends down under are starting to join the party. Sony has only in the last few days held their official launch event for the Xperia Z in Australia, but now the 5-inch smartphone is available to
This one's a little puzzling. Japanese carrier Emobile has announced a new phone from Huawei, the memorably-named GL07S. The confusing part is that it looks almost identical to the black-colored Ascend P2, with the same three-line menu button differentiating it from another handset leak. It's hard to say just yet, but Huawei might be readying two devices like it did during CES, where it unveiled the P2's predecessor alongside an even thinner S model. This Japan-bound offering measures up a 8.6mm thick, which while certainly no porker, is a bit more than those promises of a 6.5mm smartphone.
NVIDIA and ZTE have announced that the world’s about to get its first Tegra 4 Super Phone, which will be from none other than ZTE itself. The Chinese maker of increasingly higher-spec’d phones will be releasing the Super Phone by summer this year. There’s no other information – nothing about its name, its price, or its specs.
This isn’t the first time ZTE has partnered with NVIDIA to offer a market “first,” and there’s a chance we’ll get a look at the device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress.
Sony just held its press event for the PlayStation 4 and announced the many new and exciting features that will come with the console. One of the most exciting features announced was the “Remote Play” feature that allows gamers to pause their PlayStation 4 and resume gaming on a mobile device like the PlayStation Vita. Through a recent tweet from Sony, it looks like Android owners have something to gain from the PlayStation 4 as well. The tweet, from PlayStation EU, says, “PS4 companion apps for PS Vita and tablets are coming too
ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor mobile processors might not be a household name, but they’ve been putting a lot of effort lately into their mobile lineup. For those that are unaware, their processors power the Galaxy S III Mini, the Sony Xperia Go, and a few other mid-range devices from yester-year. However their new quad-core 3.0 GHz silicon is claiming to be the world’s fastest mobile CPU.
We certainly have our doubts with a small company like NovaThor calling their CPU the “world’s fastest” but then again a quad-core blazing

Would you pick up a tablet from the folks over at HTC? Well, assuming you missed out on their HTC Flyer attempt in the past that ran on the Android operating system, word on the street has it that HTC could very well be working on a new tablet this time around, although they would ditch Android in favor of Ubuntu – if rumors hold true, that is. What you see above is a shot from the kind folks over at 9to5google, where, a large, black cloth covers approximately a dozen devices, although there is a very high possibility of a 10-inch tablet hiding down there.
Until recently, when you thought about looking for a tablet, it was pretty much a decision between iPad and Android. Now with Windows 8 and Windows RT, we’ve seen a number of new tablets on the market over the past couple of months. Another option is the new VivoTab Smart from Asus, which runs the full Windows 8 operating system. This gives it g...
